10 Qualities of a
Virtuous Woman
The best gift that a man can get is a woman whose inward beauty shines brighter than her outward appearance. The following 10 Qualities will enable you to recognise a virtuous woman at the heart of her maker.
1. She Loves God
A virtuous woman loves God with all her heart and desire to please him in all her ways. She spends time reading God’s word and she is a prayerful woman. According to Proverbs 31:30:
Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but this virtuous woman lives in the wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity
2. She is Peaceful
A virtuous woman has a gentle and quiet spirit which is precious in God’s sight. She is humble and not aggressive; her emotions are spirit controlled. She understands that being peaceful is not a weakness; rather it is putting into use the feminine power that God bestowed upon her at creation. Proverbs Chapter 17 verse 1 says:
A simple, humble life with peace and quiet is far better than an opulent lifestyle with nothing but quarrels and strife at home.
3. She speaks with Wisdom
A virtuous woman is sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit when she speaks. She is a woman who positively influence others through her words; so, the words of her mouth builds up, rather than pull down. A woman who knows what to say and how to say it will be able to advise a man with wisdom in marriage. According to Proverbs Chapter 31 verse 26:
She opens her mouth with wisdom and loving instruction is on her tongue.
4. She is Trustworthy
A virtuous woman always speaks the truth. She is dependable and you can count on her. When you confide in her, you are confident that your secrets are safe. A woman that is worthy of trust is a faithful woman. Proverbs Chapter 11 verse 13 says:
No one who gossips can be trusted with a secret, but you can put confidence in someone who is trustworthy.
5. She is Diligent
She is productive at home and in her day to day work. She is an excellent woman who sets goals for herself and works towards completing them. She is a woman who makes wise use of her time. According to Proverbs 31:17:
She works very hard. She is strong and able to do all her work. She works late into the night to make sure her business earns a profit.
6. She is Prudent
A virtuous woman thinks ahead and make wise financial decisions. She is contented and does not act on impulse. A woman who spends money wisely will not squander what she worked hard to build with her husband; rather she will contribute to it. According to Proverbs Chapter 19 verse 14:
House and riches are the inheritance from fathers, But a wise, understanding, and prudent wife is from the Lord.
7. She is Generous and Hospitable
A virtuous woman makes everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. Her family feels safe and cared for. She is very quick to help someone in need without seeking gain or reward because her hands are extensions of God’s love and compassion. She is a kind woman who is mindful of the poor and the needy. According to Proverbs 31:20:
She opens her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her filled hands to the needy [whether in body, mind, or spirit].
8. She brings out the Best in you
She supports your vision without competing with you. She encourages you to maximise your potential. She waters and nurture the seed of greatness in you and inspire you to make better choices so you can be the best that God created you to be. She walks alongside you to complement you. According to Proverbs Chapter 12 verse 4:
She comforts, encourages, and does him only good and not evil All the days of her life.
9. She is Respectful
She esteems you highly and speak well of you. She appreciates you and focuses on the things that you do well, rather than your weaknesses. She tells you the truth in love and will not humiliate or insult you. She perceives a man’s leadership as a gift, and will obey the word of God in Ephesians Chapter 5 verse 33:
And let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].
10. She Dresses Appropriately
A virtuous woman always reflects God’s image in her dressing. She has good taste; however, she understands that true and lasting beauty comes for within. So, she dresses modestly as a daughter of the King and her outward appearance reflects her inner beauty. She does not dress to appear seductive. When a man looks at a woman and starts to plead the blood of Jesus, he has seen something that needs to be covered. According to 1 Timothy Chapter 2 verses 9 to 10:
As for the women, I want them also to dress themselves properly. They should think carefully about the clothes which they wear. They should not bring shame on themselves. What makes a woman beautiful? It is not the special way that she prepares her hair. It is not the gold things that she wears, or the beautiful stones. It is not her expensive clothes.
So, you can see that a virtuous woman is a woman of character. She is valuable and worth more than precious gemstones. You cannot possibly find a gem on the road; rather, you must dig deep in the earth to find one. So, you need the help of God to find a virtuous woman. According to Proverbs Chapter 31 verse 10:
"A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds.”
A virtuous woman is not perfect. But through the grace of God, she has been credited with the perfection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
